The Daikōdō ("English: Grand Auditorium") was donated by Soka Gakkai, with construction completed on 1 March 1958. It houses the “Abutsubo Gohonzon” (often wrongly mistaken for the "Mannenkugo Gohonzon" or "Dai-Honzon" ) inscribed by Nichiren for the enlightenment of women and bestowed to Sennichi, the pious wife of disciple Abutsubo. It is flanked by the ihai memorial tablets of second High Priest Nikkō Shonin and his successor, third High Priest Nichimoku Shonin. It is in poorly dilapidated condition (shambles) and scheduled for demolition and reconstruction after completion of the new Sanmon gate in 2021.
