I have no words, and I made a post in which I wrote my opinion that this show was getting too harsh undeserving critics. Boy how season finally proved me wrong... I will just write few opinions: -Why last 3 episodes fell so rush? They bomb us with threat more dire than anything previous we have seen and yet it is resolved in just 3 episodes. This show should have had 24 episodes and sadly it is showing. -Why did the animation quality fallen so sharply in the last several episodes? Most returning cast are too stiff and they seem like they are standing still. Other than main characters for this show the rest are really disappointing to look at. -Rose projected Geass on herself I can understand, but why made herself mute? She is a leader of a country, not a very smart move to disable the nations most prominent figure like that. -You want to tell me that Lelouch just went silent this last few episodes? And that the likes of Suzaku and Karen were not able to steamroll over Loki? And that nobody started a massive battle with the bad guy in the end when he was exposed in the middle of sky? I gave this show first 8 episodes grade 10 as that was my level of enjoyment, but that sored down really fast, even for a fan like me. This show didn't deserve to be gutted like that, if it was 24 episodes and different ending then maybe it would have been worth investing. Like this... |

Fukoku said: She could’ve used the Geass to make her forget about the Geass and never use it again, silencing is just…I don’t get it If you forget about the geass, then you won't be able to protect the people from another geass user, because you won't know about their power. And it is not hundred percent sure that you won't be able to use it, just because you command that. In most cases the geass became so strong that they couldn't turn it off. Mao is a pretty extreme case, because he couldn't even completely silence the outside world, while Lelouch could hide his face. |

I liked the first half of this show, but just felt it burned out by the end. I did enjoy the characters and the intrigue but the ending just...wasn't it. And I'm not really a fan of the alternate timeline anyway. |

Code geass is my favorite anime, i never had much expectations for this one, but as soon as i was watching the episodes the thought "this has potential" rushed through my head, this show needed more eps, at least 24 to make a good season, 12 is too short, the ending was too rushed and i feel that they failed hard into trying so hard, but so hard to make stuff similar and appealing as the OG, i mean, nothing wrong into using similar songs which felt great, but even Sakuya cries after Ash that was pretty similar to Nunally's cry after Lelouch death on R2, it pretty much had the same screams, felt very weak and shallow. I really wanted to say a lot of good things about this one, after all i love this series in general, code geass to me its much more than just an anime, it was the actual first time i watched an anime which made me cry in the end not cause of all the emotion, but also cause it was over and i wouldn't be able to see those characters that i loved so much again, but this one, unfortunately failed, and makes me very sad, cause it had a lot of potential, Sakuya and Ash weren't bad characters, but i got my self hoping that the old characters would appear and do something midway on series and the feeling kept on lingering on and on after ep 8 or 9 i think where things started going downhill. The knightmares designs were cool, and the animation / SFX was well done, but the plot had so many holes, like the world is ending and they only show Kallen fighting (when she is supposed to be probably one of the greatest assets to counter the lokis) for like 5 seconds on the last episode? And why do cameos of Akito and Leyla if they never actually did anything? this is what i don't get it, instead showing everyone fighting together, making an epic effort against the enemy that was supposed to be the strongest so far (that was defeated so easily by Suzaku v2, also known as Ash, and Sakuya that out of nowhere pulled off a Lelouch on deductions skills and reactions), but nope, they decided to just leave the old characters aside and rush it to the end with the new ones so they would hog all the glory and even get a memorable statue...It could've been SO MUCH BETTER, so much EPIC, they had the knife and the butter in hands, and they decided to throw the knife away and let the butter rot, so sad. Norland was a very cliched villain, what actually made some "villains" stand out on og geass, was their combat ability or how smart they were, this guy had nothing, he was just a guy with a deep voice, a very weird mask, with a evil want to conquer the world complex, the anime deserved better. Now Sakuya muting herself, i will say this in a personal tone cause i love Reina Ueda voice, felt like a waste, but on a serious note, preventing herself from using her geass felt like an easy way out instead of living with it and keeping it as a backup plan in case the world fall into chaos again (but then again feels like geass is getting weaker and weaker since even a shitty scientist can cancel / remove geass now), that would be true resolve, to live with your curse, so even if it could feel to be a strong move, it was also a very weak one. I gave this a 7 cause its code geass, but reviewing everything i said, this wouldnt go higher than 6, maybe 5.5, so much wasted potential 😢 |

R1 and R2 are my favorite animes of all time, and I've seen over 2500+. I never really liked Akito. I was mad at the announcement of the Resurrection movie, though it wasn’t that bad. The fact it was produced felt like an insult to the best anime ending ever. When Roze appeared, for the first few episodes, I thought this was truly the successor Geass needed in anime. The potential was there. Aaaand then it flopped, horribly. Somehow, the last three episodes were absolute dog shit. Like, man, what the fuck? Not even comparing it to Zero Requiem at this point, that’s just an insult, but at least… a decent ending. "Let me suicide myself so we both don’t die?" Bullshit, just take the fall in bursts. "Let me never speak again so I never use my Geass?" Bullshit, just shut your trap. At least say "never use your Geass again" and be done with it. Noland’s objective was cartoonishly evil. It made more sense for him to just kill himself. Sakuya was both a technical genius for no good reason and also a super-stupid 15-year-old-like girl. In the end, it felt like she was written by a feminist, just because. Ash was the only actually good character. He had real character development, and the story was only possible because of him, but they just left him to die for no reason. Even Akito had a better life. And hell, since this is Code Geass, Zero Requiem, one of the best "I'll die for a reason" stories in fiction comes to mind, and it hurts to even try to compare them. I feel betrayed man. |

About Sakuya muting herself: you guys do realize she could have just stoppped talking, right? By herself, without any Geass? We don't speak by accident... It's a choice, one can decide to stop speaking. Similarly, the Geass is something you activate (up until you lose control of it after using it too much). Sakuya had full control of it, she could have just decided to stop using it, and boom. Same effect without handicapping herself. |
Everything changes. Even the happy and funny things eventually disappear. How can I still enjoy this place then? - Furukawa Nagisa (Clannad) You have to make a choice. Either you give up on your soul for the sake of science, or you give up on science to save your soul. In my case, the soul was already in pieces. - Lloyd Asplund (Code Geass) Do you understand the meaning behind Nunnaly's smile? She can't see or walk. So there are things in this world that she knows she can't do alone. Her smile... is her only way to show gratitude. - Lelouch Vi Britannia (Code Geass) Death is part of Life. - ... Me. |

i did like the show ngl but that ending was quite rushed, i expected a season 2 cuz i didn’t think for a sec that they would end the whole series like that, 7/10 for me, ash’s death was unnecessary, her getting mute was stupid. The characters were below mid, mc was okay, ash was fantastic. We can’t compare this to the old series but i did like it. |

I fucking loved it because it legitimately felt like Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion season 3. Sakuya isn't as great a character as Lelouch, nor did I like that she was in her Roze disguise (mainly because of the voice) most of the time, but they did such a fucking great job with the other characters like Ash, Arnold, Catherine, and Christoph. I feel they'll be memorable in a few years unlike say the Akito crew (outside of Akito and his support group). The cast in this show felt like characters that would have fitted just fine into the original Code Geass show. It is also fun watch with a lot of dark moments that were very reminiscent of the original anime. You'd think they would be unable to top the Damocles, F.L.E.I.J.As, and Knightmare frames armed with F.L.E.I.J.As massacring millions, but then they bring Norland along to genocide humanity by blending them in giant blenders. I was very disappointed with Akito, so I was cautiously optimistic when this was announced years ago. It's wild to me that I've been waiting for this show for what felt like years (maybe because I'm impatient, rather than it being in development for long) and it's already over in 12 episodes. This show needed 25 episodes at the least. I'm going to give it a 10 because I just love Code Geass when it's running on all cylinders, but it definitely felt rushed. There's Haruka in particular who felt like she was going to get a character development arc and show growth similiar to Kallen, but then the show ended abruptly at episode 12 and it's like... Ummm, what? Anyway, I'm going to miss this show. |

This was a poor way to handle a beloved franchise. The Good: - Actors: I watched the dub and they always do a wonderful job with Code Geass - Artistic Team: They have done a wonderful job with mech, character designs, and music - The General Idea: A 50-episode series made about the steps they take to rescue Sakura would've been ELITE. Similar to how in the original franchise, we have Lelouch making moves, making mistakes, coming back and ultimately emerging victorious over a 50-episode timespan. But this was not executed properly at all. The Bad: - Lack of characterization: In the old Code Geass, we even learned about side characters and they became fan favorites. But who that was introduced in Roze could become this series' Cornelia or Jeremiah? - Lack of villain motivation: It was very well acted but the villain basically tells us he has no reason for his actions - Sakuya's decisions?: Why would she cause herself to not be able to speak? She could very well need Geass again in the violent world they live in. - Ash's death: Zero plot reason for this. Just a cheap decision made for cheap feels. - Poor use of fan-favorite characters: They brought back Kallen, Cornelia, Suzaku, Nunally, and a bunch of other people just for like one voice line and a scene of them getting angry at robots taking over the world. Why? Why are Lelouch and CC in the series for basically one minute only? I have so many questions about how they handled some of the most popular anime characters ever. Overall: I am pretty sad about this and worried about the future of the franchise :( We will see what happens though. |

@animegamer245 You can refuse to continue using a power like Geass without having to take it to the extreme. Sakuya was shown to be genuinely disgusted by her manipulation of Ash after the truth was revealed and she felt guilty about it. That also made her question whether it was alright or not to use this on so many other people without regard to the consequences. Getting captured by Scissorman and almost being forced to use Geass as part of horrific experiments isn't exactly going to improve her opinion either. It was also made clear during this episode that she was against using the Geass again even at his request. Considering that granting Ash's request of a new Geass command also indirectly led to his death, I'd say that Sakuya feeling responsible and choosing silence isn't unreasonable at all. |

This was so unsatisfying. Killing Norland in such an anticlimactic way then KILLING ASH FOR NO REAL REASON?? I was liking this series even though the quality was no where near the original but this ending was so rushed. with that and other little things that went nowhere (Lelouch giving the geass and having one cameo then not appearing again), it definitely makes sense hearing that they might have decided to cut half the episodes halfway through production. So disappointing.

Norland was just a waste in general. He’s just your average wannabe god villain.
They should’ve stuck with Sakuya trying to save Sakura instead of bouncing into the whole ending humanity thing.
@Fukoku Fukoku said: Norland was just a waste in general. He’s just your average wannabe god villain. Even worse, he is just a clone of Char clones. He is a combination of Carozzo Ronah from Gundam F91 (coming from aristocratic family, being related to one of main characters and deploying spinning murder drones against civilian populations) and Full Frontal from Gundam Unicorn (being literal clone and calling himself an empty vessel). This series' plot is like a mix of both of these titles. Overall, this series was rushed and there just wasn't enough of a character development to get invested. It's especially jarring in the end where it quickly jumps between various secondary characters, just to wrap up the story for everyone. Sakuya casting Geass on herself to never speak again was a rather silly solution, couldn't she just simply command herself to stop using it? Ash's death felt unnecessary, all previous Knightmares had a function to eject pilot's seat. Norland's plot was an asspull, somehow a breakaway part of Britannia had enough resources to construct enough of these machines to threaten the entire world? Also it's a boring cliche when a main villain is someone who ruthlessly kills everyone, even his own subordinates. |

ngl it had sm potential at the start being an alternate sequel but is started to get progressively worse with each ep. Noland has to be one the most bland generic anticlimactic main villains in recent times, along with the braindead writing and decisions like sakuya muting herself permanently for no logical reason. Legitimately the only good things about this show were the og cameos and the animation. Maybe if it was given 20+ eps it wouldve been executed better and not have such a rushed and empty storyline but man was that tragic hard watch its a shame. |

So...my takeaway is... 1) Dang....Ash got the short end of the stick. I'd be a teeny bit more devastated if this final ep wasn't completely and totally utterly rushed. (I mean...really....just the fact that there were unlimited Loki is just sus weird unless the Loki were building each other or something...) Right now I'm just idk....mad that season kind of wasted my time (even though I still really like the OP, that's probably the best thing that came out of this...) and 2) Sakuya making herself mute is trying to show she will "live on with the memories" rather than run away from them....but on a different tangant, I still think this outcome leaves it open to "let's bring in Jeremiah and un-Geass her" ((lol......yeahhh that'd be kind of funny if that happened)) *COUGH* that side comment aside. I know they showed her wailing in her KMF but showing what happened to all the other "new characters" introduced in this season deflated all those feels super fast. Cuz frankly I could care less [about the other "new characters"]. Only 12 episodes does not give me any emotional attachment to anyone other than Ash and Roze. And THEN after that we cut away to her appearing fine (I mean at least externally)? Again....this is the fault of this final ep being super rushed so the impact it had on my emotions got lost somewhere after seeing all the other characters I didn't care about... This season overall seems more like fanservice bonus (I mean literally everyone made a cameo after all) and if there is ever another Code Geass (perhaps say...focusing more on Lulu & C2 collecting Geass shards) this season can be totally skipped/ignored.... My final words: Damn them for "killing off" Ash |

I was really into it until the final few episodes. I genuinely thought they pulled off Code Geass without Lelouch this time. The little character cameos we got were enough for me and I thought they were very exciting and well done. Norland's motivations were so 2D and extremely disappointing. I don't mind the twist about his identity but his reasons are just to laughably bad. The ending was just entirely stupid on many levels. Overall it leaves me feeling mixed on the whole thing... |

Norland dies in such a ridiculous way that even Ash’s death feels absurd. And why did Sakuya decide to seal her geass by making herself mute? The only memorable parts of this series are the cameo scene of L.L. and the decent battles involving the Knightmares, along with appearances from characters like Kallen and C.C. The rest of the content is bland and the ending is downright foolish. |

....I mean the ending was at least a little unexpected. Extremely dumb, like the rest of this anime, but who could have predicted that the MC would make herself mute as punishment. Like the Loki, it came out of left field, but was nowhere near as interesting. Digimon Ghost Game got cancelled/completed last year. It had all these great plot points that needed 6 to 12 episodes to play out properly and it got three episodes to end everything. Like this anime, there were a lot of loose ends, and a lot of characters were done dirty by the plot. G-Witch also had a underbaked second season that tried to do too much in too little time. I don't think this dumpster fire story could be saved even with more episodes. But it deserves the right to at least try to be better than what we got. It really does seem like production committees are the worst scourge anime has ever faced judging from Metallic Rouge earlier this year to this. Really, a whole bunch of anime from the last 5 years are worse off because of shortened runtimes combined with overly ambitious story plots. I hope Bandai Namco has a shakeup in leadership before Sunrise puts out another Code Geass anime. Also that they institute a 40 episode minimum if they are able to get another anime off the ground again, so that any ideas worth watching get an opportunity to breathe and grow. I got one positive. The english dub was acceptable enough for the finale episode. I watched Rahxephon earlier this year to make up for how disappointing Metallic Rouge ended up being. I wonder which older mecha anime I should watch to make up for this one? I already rewatched parts of R1 and R2 during this animes run to remind myself of the basic level of quality expected from a CG anime. |

We saw Lelouch and the others but not understanding how Norland can do all this plan wih no one reacting for go against him It's good to see cameo from them but why do nothing at first Ash is dead, so sad because he was a good character At final, i appreciate this anime even if i can say it was just a " low cost copie" of the original. If it can make people see the original anime for those who don't look it, so it's good |

What a rushjob this series was. Major asspulls without any good build ups. Previous main characters all made cameos but kinda unsatisfied how they were used to only struggle against lokis. Except Lelouch and CC, they just chilling somewhere in a quiet remote area (kinda liked that, but with this world ending plot out of nowhere in the last episodes.. ehhh) Props to Cornelia who breaks rules (she is THE witch after all) and mfing flips a loki with her lance cause she is badass like that. A normal ejection system would have saves Ash, but i guess ace pilot units dont come with those no more lol. Stupid way to kill him off and block the true happy ending. The antagonist was laughably bad and up to the last episode he had ZERO motivation at all to try to genocide the world. BS potentially world ending Loki army from nowhere (who gave him unlimited resources to contruct em out of his ass?). In one way this world's military is more advanced than ours, but in other aspects its heavily lacking. Why there were no major airpowers or long ranged missiles/bombardments to defeat all the loki's with ease and to bombard the fuck out of Norland who didnt seem to have that good of defences to begin with (taken out by the Slash Harken and metal melee blades LOL)??? Also flying outside the shield would be a sitting duck against literally all the world powers IF they had any long ranged/air capabilities. Yes as a Code Geass fan there was some fanservice, but holy the plot was just a wasted opportunity. Liked the nod to using Geass as a performance enhancer, callback to where Suzaku was under the influence of Lelouche's (against his will, but still). |

Well as rushed as it was, I still enjoyed it. I have to say I am biased because Ueda Reina is my goddess. With that said tho, it's unforgivable that they silenced her! The pacing really crushed this. Not too surprised tho, as it felt like they were really greedy with how they made 4 movies out of this. It is really unfortunate. I wish one day we get a full 24 ep version of this, to redeem it. |

Kallen!
I could swear the Geass just worked once per target. Not that I remember well the the mechanics at all.
They just exploded Ash. Maybe was a dumb joke from the production, like Ash to ashes.
I like how Catherine just became extremely chill.
Hey, they got a bronze statue. That's nice.

This anime has felt like Boruto filler, this last chapter has been terrible. They don't want to find out that Code Geass isn't generic mecha garbage, that what made it great was Lelouch dragging his penis, leaving grooves, with his intelligence and ingenuity. Ash's death is pathetic, the reason for making herself mute is rubbish, the girl obsessed with power, who should be convicted of war crimes, standing there so calmly smelling flowers... I could be writing a whole bunch about all the bad, but it's not even worth it. Lelouch gives him the Geass in the face and that's it, what the fuck is this? I rated it a 6, but the feeling I have is that I should give it a 3. |

I thought they would a build it up for a next movie where they would team up with the og cast and the Akito cast, but nah let's kill Norland in the anticlimactic way and kill off Ash for no reason at all They gotta top milking this franchise to death man, got my hopes it's actually gonna be at least better than Akito. AND WHERE TF IS LELOUCH? |

I'm ngl i kinda wished if lelouch and suzaku used their knightmares aswell to fight charles again. Actually wanted all the geass owners to fight against him, like akito and so on but lelouch and suzaku reunion mostly tbh, or a whole reunion of the black knights. |
